Ceremony to mark the signing of the

EUR 46.9m loan agreement between TIA

and EBRD, Deutsche Investitions- und

Entwicklungsgesellschaft, Alpha Bank and

the American Bank of Albania, on Friday,

These loans will be used to further modernize

C130 Hercules, coming from Greece

brought medical staff and equipments,

including blood quantities for the injured

people.

In 2007, Tirana International Airport (TIA)

recorded its best year in terms of

passenger numbers and cargo traffic,

serving 1,107,325 passengers and handling

3,483 tons of cargo. Passenger numbers

increased by 22 per cent compared to 2006

On Thursday 6 December 2007, the number

of passengers that have traveled through

Tirana International Airport (TIA) within a

year reached one million. At a ceremony

to mark this occasion, more than 30 children

posed for a photograph celebrating a

development that is positive for both

Airport and country.

Mrs. Alma Totokoçi (middle), flying from

Tirana to Milan on Alitalia flight AZ 511, was

welcomed as TIA’s one millionth passenger

in a year at a ceremony held at the Airport

on 6 December 2007.

Mrs. Andrea Gebbeken, CEO of TIA (right),

and Mr. Orazio Costanzo, Alitalia’s General

Manager for the Western  Balkans,

congratulated the passenger and presen-

ted her with one free ticket.

Since July 2007, Tirana International Airport

has its own Waste Water Treatment Plant.

The plant has a capacity to treat 130 cubic

meters of waste water. This and other news

are published in the second issue of TIA’s

Environmental and Social Bulletin

TIA’s CEO Mrs. Andrea Gebbeken at the

conference Prospect for the Future held

in Tirana on 23 October 2007. The

conference was aimed at raising awareness

among German and other foreign investors

of Albania’s potential to attract investments.

The Airport is one of the largest investments

made in the country and an example of

successful international partnership.

September 2007 in the middle of the

roundabout at Tirana International Airport,

at the initiative of the Albanian government

and TIA.
